Biography

Grand-niece of Neorealist writer Francesco Jovine, she obtained a degree from La Sapienza University (Rome) in 1999 with a dissertation on Jovine’s novel "Signora Ava". She attended various workshops and acting schools, studied scriptwriting and she completed a three-year drama course at the Accademia dell’Orologio theatre in Rome. Following several stage performances as assistant director, her debut as writer-director came in 2003 with “Fuori tempo”. In addition to ghostwriting several film scripts and after many commisioned screenplays, in 2010 she wrote a series of documentaries entitled "Hotel Rooms" that aired on Sky Red-TV. In 2012 she directed her first documentary “In piazza. Voci intorno Piazza Testaccio”. Her second documentary, filmed between Italy and Colombia , is titled "Almas en juego" and it has been screened in competition in more than ten Italian film festivals, including SguardiAltrove Film Festival, Visioni Fuori Raccordo Film Festival, and the Libero Bizzarri Award. In 2014 she began to work to the documentary "Once upon a land", collecting and selecting the numerous journalistic articles written by the writer Francesco Jovine between 1929 and 1950, dedicated to the peasant civilization of Southern Italy, the agrarian question and Southern. In 2015 she signed the screenplay for an animated short film entitled "The Gift" which won the Short Food Movie 2015 and was presented at the Milan Expo. In 2016 she wrote the subject and screenplay of the feature film "A life in return", directed by Roberto Mariotti and starring Toni Garrani, Stefano Fresi and Elena Arvigo. The script is a free adaptation of the story entitled "Have mercy" by Bernard Malamud. In 2017 she founded the Ilja 'Film, a cultural association engaged in the creation and production of independent movies and cultural events related to the audiovisual sector. In 2018 she started shooting her new documentary " A war and a mother ", co-directed with Roberto Mariotti, currently in post-production; the film project was selected in the Industry section "Visioni Incontra 2018" within the Visioni dal Mondo Film Festival in Milan and in the Pitch forum of the Perso Film Festival in Perugia. In 2019 she is the author with Roberto Mariotti of a graphic novel dedicated to the figure of Giuseppe Pinelli, on occasion of the 50th anniversary of his death, soon to be published. She is currently working on the script of an animated feature film on the theme of immigration and depopulation of central and southern areas.
